When onboarding a technical solution to the Swedish e-verification system (SMVS), it requires several steps to be carried out according to a given process. These steps are carried out to guarantee legitimacy both by pharmacies / wholesalers and the IT suppliers who implements the technical solutions, and to ensure that the technical solutions meets the requirements and is certified by e-VIS for connection to SMVS.

Preparations for new pharmacies

• Review and revise internal processes so that verification and decommissioning of packs in accordance with the Delegated Regulation can be carried out
• Evaluate the need for further changes, e.g. verification of incoming goods
• Identify what changes will be needed in the supporting IT system, including full traceability to the workstation / authorized person verifying and decommissioning packs
• Plan for the introduction / updating of scanners so that the requirements are met
• Develop routines to ensure that decommissioned packs that has not been dispensed / handed over are not returned to the pharmacy shelf

Preparations for  new Wholesalers /Warehouse Operators /Distributors

• Review and revise internal processes so that risk-based verification and decommissioning of packs in accordance with the Regulation can be carried out
• Identify what changes will be needed in the supporting IT system, including full traceability to the workstation / authorized person verifying and decommissioning packs
• Plan for the introduction / updating of scanners so that the requirements are met
